TODAY'S THOUGHT

The greatest wastes are unused talents and untried ideas. Anonymous

TODAY’S ACTION

Always be ready to learn and grow

 TODAY’S QUOTE

The process of learning requires not only hearing and applying, But also forgetting and then remembering again.

John Gray

HAPPY WEDNESDAY !!

OVER THE HUMP DAY!

Yesterday was a busy one at work and that helped the day go by quicker for sure. By noon both my bosses were in the office which rarely happens. The temperature never did reach 70 degrees outside and that was a blessing as we are without air conditioning and my little fan only does so much.

Today we should have much the same weather so I’ll be saying a little prayer that it keeps cool til Thursday when the new unit will be installed. The forecast says it will be 86 on Thursday, hopefully not til late in the day.

The unit is on the roof of the building and they need a crane to remove the old one and then set the new unit in place and hook it all up. I imagine that will take some time for sure. I have lots to do again today so before I know it I’ll be on the down hill slide into the weekend.

Weekends are always nice !

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

25 WORDS

TODAY IS…APPLESAUCE CAKE DAY

Is it cake or is it brownies? Whatever you call it, here's a fun recipe that makes it's own frosting. The base is good, old-fashioned applesauce. If you're energetic, boil your own sliced apples in water with a little lemon juice and sugar to taste. Or do what I do, and hit the nearest market.

1/2 cup shortening

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

2 eggs

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 (No.2) can applesauce

TOPPING:

1/2 cup nuts

1 small pkg chocolate chips

 2 Tablespoons sugar

 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9"x13" pan.

 2. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl (excluding topping) and beat about 1 minute. Pour into greased pan.

3. Mix topping ingredients together and sprinkle over the batter in the pan.

4. Bake for 30 minutes.

TODAY’S SMILE HOW TO BEING HANDY AROUND THE HOUSE

If you can't find a screwdriver, use a knife. If you break off the tip, it's an improved screwdriver. Try to work alone. An audience is rarely any help. Above all, if what you've done is stupid, but it works, then it isn't stupid.

Work in the kitchen whenever you can . . . many fine tools are there, its warm and dry, and you are close to the refrigerator for thatoccasional thirst or hunger.

If it's electronic, get a new one . . . or consult a twelve-year-old. (the same one who hooked up your PC)

Stay simple minded: Get a new battery; replace the bulb or fuse; see if the tank is empty; try turning the switch "on" ; or just paint over it.

Always take credit for miracles. If you dropped the alarm clock while taking it apart and it suddenly starts working, you have fixed it.

Regardless of what people say, kicking, pounding, and throwing sometimes DOES help.

If something looks level, it is level.

If at first you don't succeed, redefine success. After a few sessions of redefining, you can realize that you are a total success in what you do.

ONE MORE…

My friend likes to read his two young sons fairy tales at night. Having a deep-rooted sense of humor, he often ad-libs parts of the stories for fun.

One day his youngest son was sitting in his first grade class as the teacher was reading the story of the Three Little Pigs. She came to the part of the story where the first pig was trying to acquire building materials for his home.

She said ". . .And so the pig went up to the man with a wheelbarrow full of straw and said 'Pardon me sir, but might I have some of that straw to build my house with?'" Then the teacher asked the class "

And what do you think that man said?" and my friend's son raised his hand and said "I know! I know! He said 'Holy smokes! A talking pig!'"

The teacher was unable to teach for the next 10 minutes

TODAY’S WORD

 bagatelle \bag-uh-TEL\, noun:

1. A trifle; a thing of little or no importance.

2. A short, light musical or literary piece.

3. A game played with a cue and balls on an oblong table having cups or arches at one end.

Bagatelle derives from Italian bagattella, "a trifling matter; a bagatelle," perhaps ultimately from Latin baca, a berry

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers; for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Heb. 12: 1-2

Oftentimes, in order to see things properly, we must be willing to let go of the preconceived notions, conditioned responses from past experiences, and things which have become indoctrinated into our thought processes.

To see with the eye of the Spirit, of necessity, requires forgetting carnal logic, and once again remembering how to have that unquestioning faith of a child
