ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
MARCH 10TH, 2008
TODAY'S THOUGHT
People's dreams are made out of what they do all day, the same way a dog that runs after rabbits will dream of rabbits. It's what you do that makes your soul, not the other way around.
Barbara Kingsolver
TODAY’S ACTION
Don't confuse having a career with having a life. They are not the same.
TODAY’S QUOTE
A snowflake is one of God's most fragile creations, but look what they can do when they stick together!

HAPPY MONDAY !!
BACK TO WORK
That was a very fast weekend…I guess I’m ready to go to work again. The roads are all clear from the huge amounts of snow that we had and we can just wait now for it all to melt. They are already warning of flooding in many areas.
I finally got out for my Birthay dinner with DD and her hubby and DS#5 and his wife on Sunday evening. We’ve gone to Red Lobster now for several years on my birthday and we even sat at the same table we were at last time we were there. The food is always good for sure.
The snow mountains in the parking lot at the mall were really big. I forgot to take my camera so I didn’t get any pictures but all and all had really good time. I always have fun with my babes.
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
TODAY’S PRAYERS
Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
God Bless You !
25 WORDS

TO REMEMBER…
I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

Can you give a buck a birthday bash? If so, light the candles! Today marks the birthday of America's paper currency. On March 10,1862, paper money as we know it was created to help pay for the Civil War when the federal government issued about $430 million in bills. But the money trail goes way back. Coins date to the 600s B.C. in Lydia (now western Turkey), and paper money began in China around A.D. 800, if not earlier. In the 1200s, Marco Polo was amazed to see the Chinese using paper money instead of coins

1937 - An audience of 21,000 jitterbuggers jammed the Paramount Theatre in New York City to see a young clarinetist whom they would crown, ‘King of Swing’ on this night. The popular musician was Benny Goodman
1996: The International Museum of Cartoon Art opened in Boca Raton, Florida, housing 160-thousand cartoons by more than 1,000 artists. Peanuts creator Charles Schulz, who donated a million dollars to the museum, was on hand for the dedication
TODAY’S SMILE
Last Century's Wash-Day Instructions
Years ago a Kentucky grandmother gave a new bride the following recipe for washing clothes. It appears below just as it was written and, despite the spelling, has a bit of philosophy. This is exactly as written and preserved in an old scrap book (with spelling intact).
1. Bilt fire in backyard to heat kettle of rain water.
2. Set tubs so smoke wont blow in eyes if wind is pert.
3. Shave one hole cake of lie soap in bilin water.
4. Sort things, make 3 piles. 1 pile white, 1 pile colored, 1 pile work britches and rags.
5. To make starch, stir flour in cool water to smooth, then thin down with bilin water.
6. Take white things, rub dirty spots on board, scrub hard, and then bile. Rub colored don't bile, just rinch and starch.
7. Take things out of kettle with broomstick handle, then rinch, and starch.
8. Hang old rags on fence.
9. Spread tea towels on grass.
10. Pore rinch water in flower bed.
11. Scrub porch with hot soapy water.
12. Turn tubs upside down.
13. Go put on clean dress, smooth hair with hair combs. Brew cup of tea, sit and rock a spell and count your blessings.
(Tape this over your washer and dryer and next time when you think things seem bleak, read it again and give thanks for your blessings!)

TODAY’S REFLECTION . . .
Unbind him and let him go!
John 11:1-45
Lazarus was bound up with the trappings of death. His sisters were immersed in the customs of grieving. Jesus enters the scene, visibly moved with sorrow for his friends. He calls from a distressed heart, asking his Father to restore Lazarus’ human life.
As Lazarus emerges, the astounded crowd witnesses the powerful love between the Father and the Son. Jesus’ subsequent instruction—‘Unbind him and let him go!’—brings unparallelled scenes of joyous freedom to mind.
Imagine that young man greeting his bereaved sisters. Imagine what he chooses to do in his life in the days to come. The life of Lazarus is changed in a most radical way.
Our spirits too can be trapped and deadened within the circumstances of our lives. Build-ups of sadness, anger and resentment can hamper the happy flowering of our spiritual selves.
Prayers to Jesus in the Father’s name are a certain solution towards coming alive again.
