ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

DECEMBER 9TH, 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then is not an act but a habit.

Aristotle

TODAY’S ACTION

Hold on to what is good.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Better than being the head of the family is being the heart of it

George Bergman

HAPPY SATURDAY!

Another busy busy day !

In the middle of all the things I have to do today is the Christmas Luncheon that I’m going to with my ‘Old Camping Buddy’ This is the dinner that was snowed-out on Thursday.

The weather is supposed to be warmer and there is not threat of snow so going out and about will be a much more enjoyable thing

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY IS…NIGHTGOWN DAY!

In 16th century France, tight corsets, layered clothes and powered wigs were all the rage. No wonder everybody wanted to wear something comfortable at night. The word "nightgown" described a long, loose frock with long sleeves. Besides being comfortable, it also kept people warm. Men and women both wore this same basic garment to bed for the next 150 years. Eventually, the nightgown for men grew shorter and was called a "nightshirt".

TODAY’S CHRISTMAS SMILE

The Gift of Love

Author Unknown

If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another decorator.

If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another cook.

If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home and give all that I have to charity, but do not show love to my family, it profits me nothing.

If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir's cantata but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point.

Love stops the cooking to hug the child. Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the husband.

Love is kind, though harried and tired. Love doesn't envy another's home that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens.

Love doesn't yell at the kids to get out of the way.

Love doesn't give only to those who are able to give in return but rejoices in giving to those who can't.

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails.

Video games will break, pearl necklaces will be lost, golf clubs will rust. But giving the gift of love will endure.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

There is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:11

It seems to happen earlier each year. Stores put up Christmas decorations. Newspaper ads announce "the perfect Christmas gift." Toy commercials punctuate television shows. Christmas music fills the air. Before you know it, there are banquets to attend, parties you can't miss, gifts to wrap, family gatherings to plan, baking to be done, and a host of other activities that manage to crowd out the real meaning of Christmas.

This Christmas, let's keep foremost in our minds the reason for the celebration—the birth of God's Son.
