HAPPY MONDAY

The weekend is over and it’s back to work this morning…not to say that I haven’t been working all weekend. Lots done …more to go!

I did get a lot done and have finished decorating and painting, and now comes The wrapping ! I even got the cookbook pages pretty much done and have decided to take them to work and run off copies. That way I won’t have so many pages to print off. I think there are 20 pages X seven.

It will go a lot faster that way !

A little bit each evening this week should get it all done ! Next weekend I’ll be cleaning house in preparation for my Christmas get together with the family.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY’S CHRISTMAS SMILE

This is a good one !

"Daddy," she said, her eyes full of tears, "will you talk to me and quiet my fears?"

Those bad boys at school are spreading a lie about the impossibility of reindeer that fly.

There's no Santa Claus, they say with a grin, there's not one now and never has been.

How can one man take all those toys to thousands of girls and boys?

But I told them daddy, that they were not right, that I would come home and find out tonight.

Mama said wait until you get home.

Please tell me now that I was not wrong.

Her daddy looked at her questioning face and puffed his pipe while his frantic mind raced.

He had put this thing off as long as he could, he had to think fast and it better be good.

Whispering a prayer, he began with a smile,

"Well climb on my lap, dear, let's talk a while."

"Remember at church how we learned to pray,

asking God to take care of us each day?

And you know how we say grace before each meal?

To this same God whom we know to be real,

Though we never see Him,

we know He is there watching

his children with such loving care."

"God started Christmas a long time ago when

He gave us His son to love and to know.

A spirit of giving came with that birth,

and God's generosity filled the whole earth.

Man had to name this spirit of giving

just as He names all things that are living."

"The name Santa Claus came to someone's mind

probably the best name of any to find

There is, you can see, and I think it quite clear,

truly a Santa who visits each year.

A spirit like God, whom we never see

he enters the hearts of your mother and me."

Each year at Christmas for one special night

we become him and make everything right.

But the REAL spirit of Christmas is in you and in me,

and I hope you are old enough now

to see that as we believe and continue to give,

our friend Santa Claus will continue to live."

Love came down at Christmas,

love all lovely, love divine;

love was born at Christmas--

Star and angels gave the sign.

Worship we the Godhead,

love incarnate, love divine;

worship we our Jesus--

what should be our sacred sign?

Love shall be our token

love be yours and love be mine;

love to God and neighbor

love for prayer and gift and sign.

Christina Rossetti, 1883.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God."

Luke 1:30

The Christmas miracle began with God's blessing on Mary. Mary had been chosen by God to give birth to the Messiah, the Son of God. But what a strange miracle.

In our society today, as it was in Mary's day, many assume that those who receive a miracle or who are favored by God will enjoy the good life: good social standing, wealth, and good health.

Yet Mary, God's favored one, received the miracle of having a child out wedlock, and her child would later die on a criminal's cross.

Actually, our ideas of miracles and being in God's favor are often out of line with God's intentions. The Christmas miracle began with God's blessing on Mary, and Mary's miracle story reminds us of how God's miracles turns our norms upside down.

God's miracles are about what we really need.
