TODAY'S THOUGHT
One of the sanest, surest and most generous joys of life comes from being happy over the good fortune of others.

TODAY’S ACTION
Persevere in accomplishing that which God has in mind for you to do. Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will be established.

TODAY’S ADVENT PRAYER
O God of Hope, Emmanuel, God with Us -- we pray you to send your light into our hearts at this time. Help us to be ready for the day and the hour of Christ's final appearing. Live in us and help us to live in you. By the power of the Holy Spirit, transform us so that our worship, our celebration, our time of preparation, may be pleasing unto you - both now - and forevermore. Amen.
Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
God Bless You !
TODAY IS…CRACKER JACK DAY
In the early 1890s, F.W. Rueckheim started selling peanuts and caramels at his popcorn stand. He then combined all three products to sell at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. He called his invention "Candied Popcorn and Peanuts". When a friend tried the new combination, he yelled out "That's Crackerjack!" to change the name. The snack was immortalized in 1908 in the song "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" with the words "Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack."

TODAY’S CHRISTMAS SMILE
A NEWS REPORT FROM THE NORTH POLE
The Christmas tree is a very important part of Christmas," Santa explains. "It is the source of Christmas spirit in every home. With a properly decorated tree there is no way anyone can ever have a sad Christmas. It is a reminder of all that is good and right about the season."
The Christmas tree has been around for ages. Thousands of years ago people brought the green trees into their homes in the dead of winter because they believed the trees to be something of a miracle.
How can something be green and beautiful while all other plant life is dead and dry during the winter? People back then thought the plants brought them good luck and they came to symbolize eternal life.
Over the centuries, the Christmas tree grew to be a form of expression for those who celebrate Christmas. Lights were first made for the tree by putting candles on it, a very dangerous practice.
Christmas trees burn easily and open flames are not a good thing around a Christmas tree. But as electric lights were invented one of the very first place that folks used them was on a Christmas tree.
Santa explains that it is not necessary to have a very big tree. In fact, you don't even have to have a real tree or a traditional pine tree at all to properly celebrate Christmas. In fact, in some tropical out-of-the-way places people cannot get trees that look anything like a Christmas tree at all.
Santa reminds you that a Christmas tree -- ANY kind of Christmas tree -- is a living thing. We give it a place of honor in our home. We sing around it and gather around it. It becomes a member of our family. We should give it a name and remember to water and talk to it frequently.

TODAY’S REFLECTION
So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.
Luke 1:35
Jesus was both divine and human. He was the Son of God and was holy. We are told that we are created in God's image. We are weak human beings, but with Jesus as an example, we have a pattern for life that can help us attain holiness.
Jesus was unassuming, not showing off his holiness. He was just a loving, caring person who always thought of others. When we try to live like him, we reflect his holiness to others.
