ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

MARCH 16TH, 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly.

Langston Hughes

TODAY'S ACTION

Know in your heart that your world has been transformed by your abilities

TODAY'S QUOTE

I used to think that God's gifts were on shelves, one above the other and the taller we grow the easier we can reach them. Now I find that God's gifts are on shelves and the lower we stoop, the more we get.

F.B Meyer

HAPPY THURSDAY!

We had a very cold windy day yesterday, but the sun was shinning most of the day ! That always makes me feel better, but the eyes say I still need more sleep. I haven’t caught up yet from last weekend.

Usually when mid-March comes I feel like I have more energy because the days are longer and it doesn’t get dark so early.

The wind blew off a few more shingles from my side of the roof and those were repaired yesterday. Pretty soon we should have a new roof!

Take good care all!

Have a great day ! Another wonderful one on the Way!

TODAY IS...TUMBLEWEED DAY

Prairie tumberweeds are really Russian thistle - hitchhiking its way to the U.S. during the 1800s inside bags of imported Russian grain. Farmers happily planted it. They thought it would make good livestock feed, but... wrong. Besides blowing down the highway, tumbleweeds are only good for creating that "Southwest" look

TODAY'S SMILE

Michael Hoolihan was courting Frances Phelan. The young couple sat in the parlor of the girl's house night after night, much to the annoyance of old man Phelan. One night he couldn't take any more. Standing at the top of the stairs, he yelled down, "What's that young fella doin' here all hours of the night?" "Why, Dad, " said Frances, "Michael was just telling me everything that's in his heart!" "Well, next time, " roared Phelan, "just let him tell you what's in his head, and it won't take half as long

One more…

An Irishman went to a pet shop and asked how many budgies were in stock. "We have 99" replied the shop owner "Give us the lot" said the Irish man, paid for them and left. He went to a tailors shop and had 99 pockets sewn into a jacket, put a budgie in each pocket, went up to the Post Office Tower and jumped off. He hit the ground with an almighty smack and lay there groaning until a passer-by came and asked him what had happened. "I don't know sur" he replied "but that's the last time I try that budgie jumping

TODAY'S REFLECTION

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.

II Corinthians 8:9

Jesus gave up all for us. He stepped down from the throne of heaven. He gave up all of His privileges and wealth as King of the Universe. He became poor that we might be rich in heavenly riches. He gave His life for us. If he gave himself for us, what shall we give for him?
