ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

AUGUST 5TH, 2008

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Everything we have is really loaned to us; we can't take anything with us when we depart. If we have no use for a thing, we should pass it on to someone else who can use it - now.

Norma S. Scholl

TODAY’S ACTION

Take stock of what you have in life

TODAY’S QUOTE

Most people ask for happiness on condition. Happiness can be felt only if you don't set any conditions.

Arthur Rubinstein

HAPPY TUESDAY !!

Monday is a thing of the past now we can move on to the rest of the week. It seems to me that Monday’s are the hardest day of the week. Tuesdays are supposed to be our best days, We’ll see about that one…

Hopefully we are to get some rain today. The ground is hard and dry and needs a good soaking for sure. If it doesn’t I’ll be out with the hose watering this evening.

I got my Monday and Thursday jobs all done yesterday at work so come Thursday it will be a struggle to keep busy. If the bosses are out, I can clean so we’ll hope for that.

DD is to go sometime soon for a stress test just to make sure she has no problems so I’ll be praying that turns out ok for sure. She also let me know that around the middle of this month her hubby will find out if he’ll be transferred on his job. He thought the transfer had been cancelled but it was only put on hold it seems.

There is always something new in our family, good, bad or just something new. Sometimes it ishard for me to keep up, but that’s the news from home as I know it.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU !

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER…

I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY IS…MUSTARD SEED DAY

Mustard is a popular seasoning in kitchens around the world. But, what about those cute, little white mustard seeds? Grown in Europe and in the north part of the U.S., they have been used for lots of other interesting reasons. Ground into a powder and dried, they were an old remedy for colds and rheumatism. As a fertilizer, they will give your daffodils stronger color. You can even put dried mustard in your shoes to prevent cold feet!

Easy Honey Mustard

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon dry mustard

1 teaspoon minced onion

1/4 cup honey

1 tablespoon minced parsely

Mix all ingredients in a medium bowl.

Serve as a dressing over your favorite lettuce salad.

TODAY’S SMILE

At his request, each morning three-year-old Ray's mother pinned a bath towel to the back shoulders of his size two T- shirt. Immediately in his young imaginative mind the towel became a brilliant magic blue and red cape. And he became Superman.

Outfitted each day in his "cape," Ray's days were packed with adventure and daring escapades. He was Superman. This fact was clearly pointed out last fall when his mother enrolled him in kindergarten class.

During the course of the interview, the teacher asked Ray his name. "Superman," he answered politely and without pause. The teacher smiled, cast an appreciative glance at his mother, and asked again, "Your real name, please."

Again, Ray answered, "Superman." Realizing the situation demanded more authority, or maybe to hide amusement, the teacher closed her eyes for a moment, then in a voice quite stern, said, "I will have to have your real name for the records."

Sensing he'd have to play straight with the teacher, Ray slid his eyes around the room, hunched closer to her, and patting a corner of frayed towel at his shoulder, answered in a voice hushed with conspiracy, "Clark Kent."

TODAY’S WORD

obeisance \oh-BEE-suhn(t)s; oh-BAY-suhn(t)s\, noun:

1. An expression of deference or respect, such as a bow or curtsy.

2. Deference, homage.

Obeisance comes from Old French obeissance, from obeissant, present participle of obeir, to obey, from Latin oboedire, to listen to, from ob-, to + audire, to hear. The adjective form is obeisant

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Honor everyone. Love the family of believers. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

1 Peter 2:17

Remember who you are. One of Isaiah's primary tasks was to remind the people of God who they were. They were no ordinary run-of-the-mill ragtag outfit. They were God's own anointed. They were the chosen. Like the Marines, they were the few, the proud.

We need to be reminded, sometimes, who we are too. We are God's people. We are those for whom Christ died. We belong to the best family in town--God's family

There would be certain advantages to being a Kennedy or a Roosevelt or a Rockefeller. Membership in a prominent family is helpful in this world. I want to say to all of us, however, there is an even greater advantage to those who know themselves to be a part of the family of God.
