A LETTER FROM GOD

As you got up this morning, I watched you and hoped you would talk to Me, even if it was just a few words, asking my opinion or thanking me for something good that happened in your life yesterday. But I noticed you were too busy trying to find the right outfit to put on and wearto work.

I waited again. When you ran around the house getting ready I knew there would be a few minutes for you to stop and say hello, but you were too busy. At one point you had to wait fifteen minutes with nothing to do except sit in a chair.

Then I saw you spring to your feet. I thought you wanted to talk to me but you ran to the phone and called a friend to get the latest gossip. I watched as you went to work and I waited patiently all day long.

With all your activities I guess you were too busy to say anything to me. I noticed that before lunch you looked around, maybe you felt embarrassed to talk to me, that is why you didn't bow your head.

You glanced three or four tables over and you noticed some of your friends talking to me briefly before they ate, but you didn't. That's okay. There is still more time left, and I have hope that you will talk to me yet you went home and it seems as if you had lots of things to do.

After a few of them were done you turned on the TV, I don't know if you like TV or not, just about anything goes there & you spent a lot of time each day in front of it, not thinking about anything - just enjoying the show.

I waited patiently again as you watched the TV and ate your meal but again you didn't talk to me. Bedtime I guess you felt too tired. After you said goodnight to your family you plopped into bed and fell asleep in no time.

That's okay because you may not realize that I am always there for you. I've got patience more than you will ever know. I even want to teach you how to be patient with others as well. I love you so much that I wait everyday for a nod, prayer or thought or a thankful part of your heart.

It is hard to have a one-sided conversation. 

Well you are getting up again and once again I will wait with nothing but love for you hoping that today you will give me some time.

It is very difficult to forgive someone who has hurt you. Many times ugly thoughts of revenge creep into your mind and cause much trouble. Jesus said, "And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses." (Mark 11:25).

And He set the example on the cross, praying, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." (Luke 23:34). When you allow unforgiveness to fester in your heart, it will contaminate your entire body, causing melancholy and depression. It can even cause physical illness. You remain a prisoner of the person who has hurt you.

I have found that forgiveness does not always come immediately, but often is a process that may take some time to accomplish. When you have the faith and courage to ask God to make you a channel of his forgiveness

HAPPY TUESDAY !!

Our skies were blue and sunny after a very cloudy start to the day on Monday, but today we will have clouds and probably rain. May is flying by so fast it makes me wonder where it’s going to.

This week is a busy one for me. Tonight is our dulcimer get together, Wednesday after work I need to make the hour long trek to my DDH’s grave to put flowers on for Memorial Day. It’s a half hour there and a half hour home again. I stopped by and put fresh bouquets on my parents and grandparents graves yesterday. Thursday evening is Bible Study and Thursday is also DS#4’s birthday. Then after work on Friday I leave for the campsite. It will be a nice long weekend there as I have off Monday for the holiday and Tuesday as a vacation day. So far the weather is looking sunny for Saturday and Sunday.

I will get the laundry done and some house ‘blessings’ too in between all that so that I can be ready to leave again.

A parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule. The mule fell into the farmer's well. The farmer heard the mule 'braying' - or - whatever mules do when they fall into wells.

After carefully assessing the situation, the farmer sympathized with the mule, but decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving. Instead, he called his neighbors together and told them what had happened. . .and enlisted them to help haul dirt to bury the old mule in the well and put him out of his misery.

Initially, the old mule was hysterical! But as the farmer and his neighbors continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back. . .a thought struck him. It suddenly dawned on him that every time a shovel load of dirt landed on his back. . .HE SHOULD SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP!

This he did, blow after blow. "Shake it off and step up. . .shake it off and step up. . .shake it off and step up!" he repeated to encourage himself. No matter how painful the blows, or distressing the situation seemed the old mule fought "panic" and just kept right on SHAKING IT OFF AND STEPPING UP!

You're right! It wasn't long before the old mule, battered and exhausted, STEPPED TRIUMPHANTLY OVER THE WALL OF THAT WELL! What seemed like it would bury him, actually blessed him. . .all because of the manner in which he handled his adversity.

THAT'S LIFE! If we face our problems and respond to them positively, and refuse to give in to panic, bitterness, or self-pity. . .THE ADVERSITIES THAT COME ALONG TO BURY US USUALLY HAVE WITHIN THEM THE POTENTIAL TO BENEFIT AND BLESS US! Remember that FORGIVENESS - FAITH - PRAYER - PRAISE and HOPE. . .all are excellent ways to "SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP" out of the wells in which we find ourselves!

It is very easy in our society to allow advertisers and entertainers to sway our opinion about value. We are bombarded with visual and auditory images of what we “should” hold to be worthy, desired, or even “needed”.

We have forgotten that God will give us the gifts to do that which we are called to do There are many different ways to define value, yet I think if we prayerfully approach our thoughts about what is valuable, we will find that very little about that which is actually of value in this world has to do with price, or worldly desire.

When we take the time to adjust our thoughts in this way, we make better decisions, we teach our children better lessons, and we become better examples of God’s light in this world. A wonderful side effect of this way of thinking is a greater sense of self-esteem, or self-value, because we are now living by God’s sustaining standard. And all you’ve got to do is change your thinking about yourself in the world!

It is the last day of the work week for me and I'll be leaving for the campsite soon as I get home and pick up the beagle. Once again the weather is 50/50 and I'm hoping the 50% is not rain for sure.

Work was so quiet yesterday, that I'm wondering what I can do at all today...seems to be much to slow for me. More and more I am accomplishing what is needed to be done in 3 days. I won't know how to act when we get busy and my desk is loaded once again.

Why was purple worn by royalty? Mainly because purple dyes were so hard to make. Don't you enjoy seeing a field of wildflowers springing up along the road? And recently, thanks to Ladybird Johnson's influence, some states have actually planted red, blue and golden wildflowers along the median strips between the interstate lanes. They are so bright and colorful! We pay big prices to grow roses, orchids, and other lovely flowers, but wildflowers can grow and bloom for us to enjoy without help from anyone

Perhaps we Christians could learn a lesson from these flowers. We are just ordinary people. We get no special attention from the world. But the Bible tells us that God knows each and every one of us by name. "… but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven." (Luke 10:20). We are promised special attention from God, for Jesus said, "Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?" (Matthew 6:30)

HAPPY THURSDAY !!

The Good News is that my laptop is working and the bad news is that the big computer is now with the computer geeks at Best Buy. I have an extended warranty plan for it so that is ok. They will fix it one way or the other.

I was a little worried after I unplugged everything that maybe I wouldn’t have the wireless connection and my phone would be out as I have an internet phone, but everything works so that is great.

The scary part will be plugging everything back in when I get it back. Hopefully someone will help me out with that one. I know DDIL#5 knows how as she helped do it all when we moved the furniture around last.

I’m just really thankful that one of my computers is working now.

Tone deafness means that everything sounds exactly the same. You can't tell one note from another, but even worse... you can't even hear the different inflections in someone's voice. It can make communicating difficult just like being color blind can make it hard to follow traffic lights. People make jokes about being tone deaf, but it's really very rare. Not being able to carry a tune in the shower doesn't qualify.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY !!

Well my computer seems to be working again, at least the laptop is. I unplugged my big computer and waited a minute or so to plug it back in and low and behold things started working again. At least for a little while anyway. Then it all started slowing down again. I gave up and turned everything off and went out to do some yard work yesterday evening and when I came in the laptop was working. Thank the good Lord.

I was afraid to try the big computer but hopefully it is working too. I had run all the checks for virus and spyware and defragged etc. Every check came up that all was well but it wasn’t . So the moral of this tale is … if it doesn’t work, unplug it and may be when you plug it back in it will work again.

TODAY IS…MOTOR CYCLE RIDERS DAY

Gottlieb Daimler (who later formed the Daimler-Benz Corporation) built the first motorcycle in 1885. It had one wheel in the front, one in the back plus spring-loaded outrigger wheels on each side. One fine day, a bus driver went to the bus garage, started his bus, and drove off along the route. No problems for the first few stops - a few people got on, a few got off, and things went generally well.

At the next stop, however, a big hulk of a guy got on. Six feet eight, built like a wrestler, arms hanging down to the ground. He glared at the driver and said, "Big John doesn't pay!" and sat down at the back.

Did I mention that the driver was five feet three, thin, and basically meek? Well, he was. Naturally, he didn't argue with Big John, but he wasn't happy about it.

The next day the same thing happened-Big John got on again, made a show of refusing to pay, and sat down. And the next day, and the one after that, and so forth.

This grated on the bus driver, who started losing sleep over the way Big John was taking advantage of him. Finally he could stand it no longer. He signed up for body building courses, karate, judo, and all that good stuff.

By the end of the summer, he had become quite strong; what's more, he felt really good about himself. So on the next Monday, when Big John once again got on the bus and said, "Big John doesn't pay!," the driver stood up, glared back at the passenger, and screamed, "And why not?"

With a surprised look on his face, Big John replied,

GOD set the prophet Ezekiel before a valley filled with dry bones and commanded him to prophesy to those bones. I can imagine the thoughts whirling through Ezekiel's mind; he probably felt a bit foolish.

Nevertheless, as if he believed his dry-bones audience could hear him, Ezekiel obeyed God's command. And, as he continued to prophesy, the dry bones became real, living people.

What of the Sunday school teacher who stands before her class of squirmy, giggling children and despairs of holding their attention?

She tamps down her doubts and teaches the lesson as if she knows it will bear fruit.

Likewise, parents rearing rebellious teenagers may doubt their ultimate success. But they doggedly persevere as if they believe in a positive outcome.
