HAPPY WEDNESDAY !!

OVER THE HUMP DAY !

After today I have just one more day of work left and I’m so excited about that. Friday will be vacation day to go and spend more time at my camper. My car is almost loaded to the brim with more things to take. I also ordered more things needed for the camper so if they arrive by Thursday I’ll have to find room for them too.

I still have my little patio table and chairs that need to go, but I’m afraid they won’t make it this time unless DD and her hubby have room in their truck for them. There will be plenty more trips to take things though and they’ll get there sooner or later.

The following weekend and the weekend after that my camping will be cut short a little as two of my grandbabes have special days coming up andon one day of each of those weekends I’ll be going to celebrate with each of them. One way or the other, weekends are going to be very busy and enjoyable too !

It all will involve a little travel to be sure, but it is worth it. Spending time with my family is very important to me.

Today for the 3rd day in a row we’ll be seeing more sunshine here. The nights and early mornings have been very cold, but it’s getting a little warmer each day. I’m so thankful Spring has finally Sprung!

Now that Monday is behind me, I guess I am back in the working mode. It was a slow start for me yesterday. My body thought it was still having weekend hours.

Today is supposed to be another sunny day for us and a little warmer too. Spring is definitely starting to show off a bit here in northern Ohio. It seems so much brighter out now with green grass and a few bushes starting to bloom.

It looks to be a pretty quiet week ahead as there is nothing on my calendar until after work on Thursday and that is when I’ll be leaving for the campground once again.

HAPPY MONDAY !!

 Yes, I finally got out to the camper this past weekend and that is why I didn’t send out a weekend newsletter. If you want to see more pictures of our campsite go to my journal page ‘Good Morning Sunshine’. You can always find the link at the bottom of this newsletter.

 It was a great weekend and except for a mouse who had decided to have a winter vacation in my camper everything went just fine.

Today I’m off to work as usual but it will be a short week. I have Friday off as a vacation day and will have 3 lovely days again at the camper. So there will not be a morning newsletter on Friday, Saturday or Sunday next weekend.

I do hope it warms up a bit. Take good care all !

One day he told his servant, "I want you to go out and scour the land, from one horizon to the other, and find the happiest man on earth, and bring me his shirt. A couple who have been married for 60 years, and more . . . were still very much in love. First off, think about that, being married to the same person for 60 years.

Our society has become so disposable that if we get even the least bit bored, let alone disinterested, we throw it away. There are way too many of us who treat relationships in the same way. It’s because of this fact that I asked them, “How have you done it? How have you been able to make it through all that life has thrown at you and not only be together but be in love?”

Their answer was eye-opening. They said one word: prayer. The look that I gave them must have shown complete confusion because they quickly continued. “Every night before we go to sleep, we pray. Every morning before we get out of bed, we pray. We offer prayers of thanksgiving, confession, joy, and concern. Whatever we happen to be facing, we offer it up to God. As I’ve thought about their reason for success, . . . I was struck by how prayer is an energy source that not only keeps them focused on God, but plugs them into the Almighty in such a way that no matter what the day may hold, they know that they are held in the energizing palm of the Almighty.

Prayer has that kind of power. How do I know? Because a couple who has been married for 60 years told me so. That’s how. Tap into the the power of prayer for your relationship. You won’t be disappointed!

HAPPY FRIDAY !!

The end of another long work week has finally come and as always, I am so ready for the weekend! Plans for this weekend are totally up in the air. DD and her hubby want to move their camper to the campground, but the weather is not going to be very good.

The weather forecast is warmer and rain today, cooler and rain on Saturday with a possibility of a mixture of s--- and rain and the same for Sunday. I still cannot say the ‘s’ word. If we get a break in the weather we’ll go to the campground, if not…I’ll be staying at home for sure.

One way or the other the time is getting very close. When I do go camping on the weekends, you probably will not be receiving a weekend newsletter from me. (Maybe that’s a good thing) DS#4 has fixed my laptop and will be sending it my way soon, so there is a possibility that I’ll be able to make my journal entries, but not send out the newsletter.

We’ll see. . .

DIRT ROADS

(This is an oldie but I thought it was good enough to repeat. If you’ve ’read it before I hope you enjoy reading it again)

What's mainly wrong with society today is that too many Dirt Roads have been paved. There's not a problem in America today, crime, drugs, education, divorce, delinquency that wouldn't be remedied, if we just had more Dirt Roads, because Dirt Roads give character.

 People that live at the end of Dirt Roads learn early on that life is a bumpy ride. That it can jar you right down to your teeth sometimes, but it's worth it, if at the end is home . . . a loving spouse, happy kids and a dog.

We wouldn't have near the trouble with our educational system if our kids got their exercise walking a Dirt Road with other kids, from whom they learn how to get along. There was less crime in our streets before they were paved. Criminals didn't walk two dusty miles to rob or rape, if they knew they'd be welcomed by five barking dogs and a double barrel shotgun. And there were no drive by shootings.

Our values were better when our roads were worse! People did not worship their cars more than their kids, and motorists were more courteous, they didn't tailgate by riding the bumper or the guy in front would choke you with dust & bust your windshield with rocks. Dirt Roads taught patience.

Dirt Roads were environmentally friendly, you didn't hop in your car for a quart of milk you walked to the barn for your milk. For your mail, you walked to the mail box. What if it rained and the Dirt Road got washed out? That was the best part, then you stayed home and had some family time, roasted marshmallows and popped popcorn and pony rode on Daddy's shoulders and learned how to make prettier quilts than anybody.

At the end of Dirt Roads, you soon learned that bad words tasted like soap. Most paved roads lead to trouble, Dirt Roads more likely lead to a fishing creek or a swimming hole. At the end of a Dirt Road, the only time we even locked our car was in August, because if we didn't some neighbor would fill it with too much zucchini.

At the end of a Dirt Road, there was always extra springtime income, from when city dudes would get stuck, you'd have to hitch up a team and pull them out. Usually you got a dollar . . .

 April feels a little different this year. Normally it has the honor of celebrating Easter but not this year. April unlike other months is not named to commemorate anybody or anything special. It gets its name from a Latin word, ‘Aprilis’ which means ‘to open’. This is a very appropriate name because nature is indeed opening up to new life all around.

 We too are invited to open up to new life in our daily lives. It’s easy to be closed and remain so because of hectic schedules. But to be open to new life, new beginnings, new challenges and new ideas is indeed to be open to God. To be open and to be in touch with the beauty of nature is indeed to be close to God. We are called to be patient and not to loose heart. April is a great starting point on that journey

HAPPY THURSDAY !!

The good Lord must have been smiling down on us here in Northern Ohio yesterday because after we had a couple of morning downpours, the sun came out and it was another beautiful day.

They say more rain for today; I hope it turns out like Wednesday’s rain did.

I did a little shopping at lunch time yesterday and found a clock radio to take to the camper that has an IPod docking station in it. I thought it would be nice to be able to take the IPod along to the camper too. I’ve downloaded quite a few pod casts that are very good and enjoy listening to them. The clock also has an alarm on it, but I don’t think I’ll be setting the alarm when I go camping. That is one place I’ll try to ignore the time and just relax.

Tonight is my weekly Bible Study which I always look forward to. Other than that it will be work today as usual.

He is the reason we are here. God is the anecdote of our lives. From the moment we wake in the morning to the moment we sleep, and through sleep, God is there, caring, loving, directing and warning. We in turn make time for God by opening ourselves to the opportunity, to be honest, to listen, and to see and through experiences to understand.

God is always there to give us his undivided attention, to listen and to comfort. Let us not fear God but embrace him. God is love unconditional.

OVER THE HUMP DAY

It does seem like Wednesdays at work are the hardest day of the week to make it through…but after today the weekend is almost here again.

We were blessed with more sunshine yesterday as the rain doesn’t move in until today. It has just felt so great to step out side and not be freezing.

I know I might sound like a broken record, but this nice weather we’ve had has been just what a lot of us needed. The winter was just too cold and too long.

This evening I’ll be working at getting the laundry done, then tomorrow night is my Bible Study. It’s been a pretty quiet week here for sure.

Before buttonholes, the world got dressed with pins. The Romans fastened their robes at the shoulder with a straight pin that had a coil in the middle allowing it to bend. ONE MORE…

I was so proud to see my 2-yr. old grandson walking around waving one of my extra car flags in he living room the other day. He had taken it off the table when I went into the kitchen and was waving it high above his head, singing..."God Bwess 'Merica."

It brought chills bumps over my arms and tears to my eyes as I returned to the living room to see what he was up to. I immediately starting waving my hands up in the air too, joining in on his song, and praising him on how good he was doing.

A few minutes of singing and he headed off to his next adventure. However before he took flight, I spun him in my direction to head him off and asked, "Where did you learn to sing that song?" He quickly replied, "daycare."

I am very proud that both of my grandsons learned to sing God Bless America at their daycare. They also recite the Pledge of Allegiance every morning. Does this make me proud too? Absolutely.

So what is my youngest grandson up to lately? He is fascinated over the American flag. Every time we take a drive in the car that little head pops up in his car seat and he screams, "Look Nannee a fwag!"

I have to say, "What kind of flag is that?" He excitedly replies, "merica". The pride glows on his face. We still sing "God Bwess 'merica" and we still recite the "Pwedge of 'wegence" too.

After a beautiful spring day with temps in the low 70’s on Monday our weather is fast going down hill. I guess we should have known it was too early to have nice weather for very long… Now they say it will rain most of the week and by Sunday we could even have a mix with s--- I just cannot even say the word.

You know the weatherman is not always right and maybe it won’t be as bad as they say…hopefully we’ll still see a few rays of sunshine now and then.

THE MAN IN THE GORILLA SUIT

A man was looking for a job and he noticed that there was an opening at the local zoo. He inquired about the job and discovered that the zoo had a very unusual position that they wanted to fill.

Apparently their gorilla had died, and until they could get a new one, they needed someone to dress up in a gorilla suit and act like a gorilla for a few days. He was to just sit, eat, and sleep. His identity would be kept a secret of course.

Thanks to a very fine gorilla suit, no one would be the wiser. The zoo offered good pay for this job, so the man decided to do it. He tried on the suit and sure enough, he looked just like a gorilla.

They led him to the cage; he took a position at the back of the cage and pretended to sleep. But after a while, he got tired of sitting so he walked around a little bit, jumped up and down and tried a few gorilla noises.

The people who were watching him seemed to really like that. When he would move or jump around, they would clap and cheer and throw him peanuts. And the man loved peanuts. So he jumped around some more and tried climbing a tree. That seemed to really get the crowd excited. They threw more peanuts. Playing to the crowd, he grabbed a vine and swung from one side of the cage to the other. The people loved it and threw more peanuts.

Wow, this is great, he thought. He swung higher and the crowd grew bigger. He continued to swing on the vine, getting higher and higher and then all of a sudden, the vine broke! He swung up and out of the cage, landing in the lion's cage that was next door.

He panicked. There was a huge lion not twenty feet away, and it looked very hungry. So the man in the gorilla suit started jumping up and down, screaming and yelling, "Help, help! Get me out of here! I'm not really a gorilla! I'm a man in a gorilla suit! Heeellp!"

The lion quickly pounced on the man, held him down and said, "Will you be quiet! You're going to get both of us fired!!!"

We all need to be nourished for without nourishing we wither and die. There are times when we feel like that and those are the times when we must merely wait. But when we have the consolatory sense of the presence of Jesus in our lives there is nothing that will get us down.

Jesus brings to us the nourishing love of the Father for us. In Jesus we see one whom the Father has nourished, has given strength. In the stories about Jesus, we have shared the loving faithfulness of the Father. And so we wait for the nourishing, abiding hope that is poured into our hearts.
