ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

MARCH 1ST, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom; justice; honor; duty; mercy; hope.

Sir Winston Churchill

TODAYS ACTION

Every day, remind yourself of your own ability, of your good mind, and affirm that you can make something really good out of your life

TODAY'S QUOTE

A picture, it is said, is worth a thousand words, but cannot a few well-spoken words convey as many pictures?

HAPPY THURSDAY

Today we celebrate a new day and a new month. One which we’ve never seen before. It’s a fresh start for each and every one of us. Maybe yesterday wasn’t so great, but today is the gift we’ve been given to do the best we can with.

As I sip my good coffee each morning and check my e-mail and read my daily devotions I’m always eager to see what might be there for me. The devotions are always meaningful. It seems there is always something in God’s Word that applies to the day and gives me a lift.

Our weather man says we’ll be warm today with showers – rain showers that is…maybe they’ll wash away some of the snow piles. That would be a good thing.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !!!

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

God Bless You !

TODAY IS...ST. DAVID’S DAY

It is celebrated by schools and cultural societies throughout Wales. It's the custom to wear a leek or a daffodil - two of their national emblems.

TODAY'S SMILE

Recently Lori took her children to a restaurant. Her six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As they bowed our heads he said, "God is good. God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And liberty and justice for all! Amen!"

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby Lori heard a woman remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice-cream! Why, I never!" Hearing this, Lori's son burst into tears and asked her, "Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?"

As Lori assured him that he had done a terrific job and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at Lori's son and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer." "Really?" Lori's son asked. "Cross my heart," the man replied. Then in a theatrical whisper he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."

Naturally, Lori bought her kids ice cream at the end of the meal (How could she resist?). Her son stared at his for a moment and then did something worth remembering the rest of life. He picked up his sundae, and without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With abig smile he told her, "Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes--and my soul is good already!"

At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, and said, "Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven." "And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea." -Matthew 18:1

TODAY'S REFLECTION

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

 Matthew 13:44

Jesus was trying to tell the people of the joy they would find in following God's way I have found from experience that I can go through the most dreadful circumstance and the joy of knowing that the Lord is with me gives me the strength I need to go on.
