HAPPY THURSDAY !!

The Good News is that my laptop is working and the bad news is that the big computer is now with the computer geeks at Best Buy. I have an extended warranty plan for it so that is ok. They will fix it one way or the other.

I was a little worried after I unplugged everything that maybe I wouldn’t have the wireless connection and my phone would be out as I have an internet phone, but everything works so that is great.

The scary part will be plugging everything back in when I get it back. Hopefully someone will help me out with that one. I know DDIL#5 knows how as she helped do it all when we moved the furniture around last.

I’m just really thankful that one of my computers is working now.

Tone deafness means that everything sounds exactly the same. You can't tell one note from another, but even worse... you can't even hear the different inflections in someone's voice. It can make communicating difficult just like being color blind can make it hard to follow traffic lights. People make jokes about being tone deaf, but it's really very rare. HAPPY WEDNESDAY !!

Well my computer seems to be working again, at least the laptop is. I unplugged my big computer and waited a minute or so to plug it back in and low and behold things started working again. At least for a little while anyway. Then it all started slowing down again. I gave up and turned everything off and went out to do some yard work yesterday evening and when I came in the laptop was working. Thank the good Lord.

I was afraid to try the big computer but hopefully it is working too. I had run all the checks for virus and spyware and defragged etc. Every check came up that all was well but it wasn’t . So the moral of this tale is … if it doesn’t work, unplug it and may be when you plug it back in it will work again.

One fine day, a bus driver went to the bus garage, started his bus, and drove off along the route. No problems for the first few stops - a few people got on, a few got off, and things went generally well.

At the next stop, however, a big hulk of a guy got on. Six feet eight, built like a wrestler, arms hanging down to the ground. He glared at the driver and said, "Big John doesn't pay!" and sat down at the back.

Did I mention that the driver was five feet three, thin, and basically meek? Well, he was. Naturally, he didn't argue with Big John, but he wasn't happy about it.

The next day the same thing happened-Big John got on again, made a show of refusing to pay, and sat down. And the next day, and the one after that, and so forth.

I hope you all had a great Mother’s Day weekend. It was a good one for me. We had one sunny day out of the 3 days I had off and enjoyed that very much.

I’ve had computer problems, but right now I do have my laptop back on line so thankfully can get my newsletter out this morning.

DS#4 called to let me know they had a scare with tornado activity near where he lives. They didn’t have one touch down but had golf ball size hail. Thankfully his car was the only thing with dings in it. DS#2 also called and said he’s still traveling this week for work but doing fine. I’ll be praying for both of these sons as they will both be traveling for work.

Back to work for me !

Good Morning !

Here I am on my laptop in the kitchen and enjoying my good cup of coffee. I’m so thankful I have this laptop as yesterday my nice big new computer decided to go haywire on me. I was using it the past couple of days because I have more graphics there and I also have all my favorites marked and usually it is faster than the lap top.

It decided to start running slower than molasses in January and sometimes just crawled to a halt. I had to actually unplug it to get the thing to shut off at one point. Next week when I have time in the evening I’ll have to call for help.

Meanwhile I can use the laptop and all is fine at this end of the internet. I’ll be off to the campsite after work today so I’m wishing you all a HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY a little early. I won’t have a newsletter for you all until Monday morning.

The weather here is 50/50 so we’ll be hoping for a good weekend.

OVER THE HUMP DAY

 Here we are mid-week already. The great thing is that I’m off on Friday for a vacation day so tomorrow is my last day of work this week.

I heard from DS#6 this evening and they are planning on visiting with us on Saturday at the campground. He loves camping too and this will be their first visit to see our new campsites. Hopefully the sun will shine for us.

Today should be a busy one at work. Hopefully it’ll go by quickly.

Monday was a beautiful day, and of course I was working.  It would have been nice to have that kind of weather at the campground Saturday, but we have no control over the weather for sure.

 

Today will be another busy day at work and we may see a few showers but it will still be in the low 70’s.  Warmth is good!

 

I went to the attic and brought down a few more of my warm weather outfits in the hopes that finally I can put away the winter stuff.  My snow shovel is still sitting outside the back door and I think it is finally safe to put that away too.

How did the hoagie sandwich get its name? There's an area of Philadelphia known as Hog Island that was a shipyard during World War I. The Italian immigrants who worked there brought giant sandwiches for lunch - made with cold cuts, spices, oil, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and peppers. These workers were nicknamed "Hoggies". HAPPY MONDAY !!

I made it through another very busy weekend and it’s BACK TO WORK once more. I’m off to a very slow start today and it’s Payroll day for me so I’ll be praying that I manage to find some energy and get up and go to make it through a busy day at work today.

The grand thing about this week is that I have a vacation day on Friday so I can head to the camper after work on Thursday. I really do need a nice long relaxing 3 day weekend and am looking forward to it for sure.

I had a grand time at the party for our Star and our Angel yesterday and was very happy to see the sunshine come out after such a rainy weekend.

I talked to DS#2 on the phone Sunday evening and he is traveling for work and just wanted to let me know everything is going ok his way.

I’m always happy to see or hear from my children and I was able to do a lot of that this weekend. Thank the good Lord for his many blessings.

The Flour Sack In that long ago time when things were saved, When roads were graveled and barrels were staved, When worn-out clothing was used as rags, When there were no plastic wraps or bags, And when the well was way out back, A versatile item was the flour sack! Pillsbury's Best and Gold Medal too, Names stamped proudly in purple and blue.

The string sewn on top was pulled and kept, The flour was emptied and spills were swept, The bag was folded and stored in a stack, Oh, that durable, practical flour sack! For a pillow, it was filled with feathers or down. Or it could make a baby's sleeping gown. It might carry a book and be a school bag, Or become a mail sack, slung over a nag. It made a very convenient pack, The adaptable, cotton flour sack!

 Bleached and sewn, it was dutifully worn, As a bib, a diaper, or a kerchief, adorned. It was made into a petticoat, shirt, or slip; Granny braided rugs from its torn strips.

 Yes, Mama ruffled curtains for our little shack From that humble but treasured flour sack! It made a strainer for milk or orange juice, To summon a person was a very good use. As a sling for a sprained wrist or a break, Or to help Mama roll out a jelly cake, Even as a window shade or to stuff a crack, We used a sturdy, common flour sack!

It became a dish towel, embroidered or not, To cover bread dough, help with pans too hot, Or to tie up victuals for neighbors in need. Men used it in the fields, to carry the seed. We could not do without it, that is a fact, Oh, that absorbent, grand old flour sack!
