The hurricane is now headed up to the Mississippi Babes - please pray for all those in danger from Katrina. After causing havoc for my Sunshine babes it's building up steam and heading upward. This will be the 2nd hurricane to head their way this year. We can't do much about the weather, but we can pray!

TODAY IS...BANANA LOVERS DAY Banana plants are grown in just about every tropical place - and make up the 4th largest fruit crop in the world. A plant needs 10 - 15 months of frost-free conditions to produce a flower stalk. Most varieties will stop growing when the temperature drops below 60° F of above 100°. High in potassium, bananas are easy to eat and are a great additional to any meal

BANANA PIZZA

INGREDIENTS
8 frozen dinner rolls, thawed
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/3 cup chopped pecans
2 cups banana cream pudding
4-6 bananas, sliced
1 cup whipped topping (optional)
1. Spray a 12" pizza pan with non-stick cooking spray. Press the rolls together and form the dough into a crust in the pan. Turn up the edges to make a ridge. Let the dough rise for 10 minutes.

2. Cream the butter and brown sugar together in a mixing bowl. Stir in the pecans. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over your pizza dough. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and cool completely.

3. Arrange the sliced bananas on top of the crust. Spoon the banana pudding over the sliced bananas. Top with thewhipped topping.

BANANA PANCAKES

4 bananas
1 cup milk
1 cup flour
1 egg
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1. Peel the bananas and mash through a potato ricer or a colander. Put in a mixing bowl and add the milk and well-beaten egg.

2. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into the mixture and beat until smooth.

3. Fry on a hot, greased griddle. You can make them oblong to look like bananas. Serve with syrup

HAPPY 'FINALLY' FRIDAY

Last day of the work week for most of us...and most of us are very thankful. Florida is having hurricanes and Japan is having typhons...here we have chances of thunderstorms all weekend. The grass is growing in the front yard, but hasn't recovered in the back yet. My lawnmower needs a 'tune up' and I got one of those kits with a spark plug, oil and filter...so I suppose I'll try and do that this weekend. Sounds simple, but I've never done it before.

Please pray for all those in peril from the storms and don't forget to pray for our troops!

HAPPY 'THANKFULLY' THURSDAY

Today I'm thankful for good friends. They uplift me when I'm down and are always there. Over the years, I've been blessed with a few good friends and am very thankful for them. I had a delicious 'chili' dinner Wednesday night made by my old 'camping buddy.' She remembered I love Chili and out of the blue called to invite me over for some. It was yummy! Today is another busy day at work and I'll be very thankful that tomorrow is FRIDAY! Take good care all !

Another cool day for us and then the temps start on their way back up! It's been so nice to go outside and enjoy being there. I started another Bible study and am putting my notes in my 'What's New at My House' journal and I started a craft journal 'Ma's Cupboard' . Hopefully, both of these will help keep me on track!

Tin cans were developed in 1810 for Royal Navy rations, but they forgot to invent a can opener. For years, soldiers opened cans with bayonets or rifle fire. In 1824, the cans carried by Arctic explorer, William Perry, carried the instructions, "Cut round top with hammer and chisel". A can opener like we know today wasn't patented until 1870. It had a cutting wheel that rolled around the rim of the can. It was improved in 1924 when a feed wheel was added. HAPPY TUESDAY ! Tonite is my dulcimer night (it got cancelled last week) and of course I always look forward to that! The rest of the week is pretty quiet except for work and that is still very busy.

The honeymooners are back home ! Just a little travel weary I'd imagine, but none the less back in the land of 'real life'. The news from home is pretty ordinary - but you know I love those ordinary days!

People have been dying their hair for 3000 years, but the first commercial hair dye company wasn't started until 1909 in France. The "French Harmless Hair Dye Company" later changed their name to "L'Oreal". The products were not widely used, and by 1950, only 7% of American women dyed their hair.
