Our Pretty Lady is one of my ‘long distance’ grand’babes’ and I miss her very much. The nick name I chose to use for her suits her for sure. She is a little doll. Tiny and petite. I put the birthday gifts in the mail the other day so hopefully they’ll reach her on time. It’s so very difficult being so far away.

I got all those reports done at work yesterday, so today should be a quiet one. That means I can either do some data entry work or clean the office, or maybe a little bit of both. The great thing is it that it is FRIDAY!

Tomorrow afternoon we go looking at campers again !

HAPPY THURSDAY !!

This will be a long day for me as I have a hair cut after work and then a little later I have the Thursday Evening Bible Study at church. I didn’t realize that I had 2 things in one evening and schedule the hair cut without thinking.

It will all work out and if I’m lucky I’ll even have time in between to eat a little supper.

Work is a little better this week as I think I’m all caught up right now. I do have reports that have to be sent out, but they are due the 15th and the 31st so I have a little time.

The one on the 15th is done on line, so I don’t even have to give extra days to allow for the mail. More and more of our work is done on line. Many customers like to do business that way. It’s ok by me too !

Burnout can keep you from having the abundant life God wants for you. One cause of burnout is overwork. If you are a workaholic, you tend to be on the job 24 hours a day. Even though you're away from work, your mind is still on it. Eventually this can cause exhaustion and burnout.

 Another cause is working at a job that brings out negative feelings If your work involves relationships with people having negative emotions, find time to be with friends who are upbeat. If you don't like your job, look for ways to qualify for one you would enjoy.

If you are working too hard, find something pleasant that you like to do and take some time off from what you are doing and have some fun. Some of us have forgotten how to do that.

If you truly trust God, you can spend time with him and he will renew your spirit each day, so that you can once again look forward to each day with joy.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY !!

OVER THE HUMP DAY!

It really seems as though it should be Friday, but it is truly only Wednesday. I’m looking forward to March. It seems that on the 15th of March (the ides of March) is when I start picking up some steam.

My energy level is running on very slow and I feel like I’m just about out of fuel. Going to bed earlier, only makes me want to get up earlier. Which is a good thing, because Tuesday morning when I woke at 4:00 in the morning, I found out the power was out.

I decided that I’d best get up as the alarm wouldn’t be there to wake me if I fell back asleep. I dressed by candlelight and drank some cold tea from the fridge instead of my morning coffee. Shortly after 6:00 the power did come back on so I didn’t have to worry about getting the car out of the garage (it has an electric garage door opener). I know there is an emergency entrance somehow, but I haven’t ever tried it out before.

Hopefully this morning everything will be working correctly. It’s not a very nice way to start the day when things go crazy.

HAPPY TUESDAY !!

Yesterday we were in the mid 60’s and it seemed very much like Spring outside. I even took the ‘silver streak’ to the car wash to get the salt rinsed off it. When it snows around here they really do poor the salt on the roads and my car needed it badly.

After last winter I noticed a little rust on the inside of the rear wheel well and after this winter I’ll probably have more.

This must be the traditional January thaw.

The record high for Monday is 63 degrees which was set back in 1907, when Theodore Roosevelt was President of the United States...that's a very old record which is in jeopardy of falling.

Bottom line: PLENTY OF WINTER LEFT TO GO!!

Meanwhile, enjoy "The January Thaw". Statistically speaking, it won't last...you can pretty much count on that.

Today is the feast of the 3 Kings – Epiphany !

It’s the day that I blessed the doors of my house with the sign 20+C+M+B+08 This stands for the year 2008 and for the 3 Kings

Chalk is used to write the initials of the three magi over the doors of churches and homes. Not only do the letters stand for the initials of the Magi (traditionally named Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar), but of the phrase Christus mansionem benedicat, which translates as "may Christ bless the house".

I say a little prayer that this house will be protected as well as all that enter and leave. ‘May our comings and our goings be blessedforevermore.’

Blessings are important and this little ritual I think signifies a new year and the new blessings that I’ll be counting each day for sure.

This day also ends the season of Christmas and now we are entering ‘Ordinary Time’

Ordinary days, I’ve learned, are wonderful.

Ordinary Time comprises the two periods — one following Epiphany, the other following Pentecost — which do not fall under the "strong seasons" of Advent, Christmas, Lent, or Easter The term Ordinary does not mean common or plain, but is derived from the term ordinal or "numbered." The weeks in ordinary time are numbered, although several Sundays are named for the feast they commemorate, such as Trinity Sunday (first Sunday after Pentecost) and the Feast of Christ the King (last Sunday in OT), and for American Catholics, the Feast of Corpus Christi (second Sunday after Pentecost).

Whatever burdens you're carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can. Relax; pick them up later after you've rested.

I was following a reading schedule and the selection for the day was from the book of Numbers. I read some of it slowly and some faster, but I felt at times that I wasn’t getting anywhere—like I was back on the treadmill.

Censuses were taken. The long journey was recapped. The tribes were listed and relisted. The next day, I moved into Deuteronomy. More wanderings. More about the Israelites and their land.

But when I got to chapter 4, I was told why all that recapping was important. Moses told the people not to “forget the things your eyes have seen . . . . Teach them to your children” (4:9).

The previous reading was not about Israel going nowhere fast. It was about training, about a lesson in using God’s past workings as instruction for future godly living.

All Scripture is given by the inspiration of God. So even when it may seem unimportant—keep reading. Sometimes we have to be patient to realize its full purpose. God speaks to us through His Word; take time to listen.

HAPPY THURSDAY !!

This week is quickly coming to an end. I had a cold start to the day yesterday and it will be even colder today. We probably got only a few inches of snow on the ground, but lots of folks here in Ohio got much more, so I’m thankful.

Work was almost overwhelming yesterday, so I put everything else aside and did what I usually do on Wednesdays, that is paying the company bills. Now I have the rest of the pile to go through today, and by Friday my desk should neat and tidy once more.

Next week will be the first full week of work – 5 days- and all should be back to normal there. I just really am not sure what normal is right now, but at least it won’t be as hectic as it was through Christmas and New Year’s.

Keep warm everybody and take good care if the roads are snow covered!

During WWII, General Electric tried to make a cheap substitute for rubber. A company engineer came up with a compound he called "nutty putty", but nobody know what to do with it. Perhaps it would beneficial to find a time today to think of ways you can give yourself more time to rest during the coming year. Eliminate unnecessary activity. Learn to say "no."

You don't have to volunteer for every task. Learn to delegate. Are there tasks that others can do? Find a short rest time during the day.

It is said that Edison would take a 10 minute nap each day.

Look to God to guide your day.

Is God forgotten in your busy life? Praise him and share your joys and problems with him. When we take the time to give our bodies needed rest both day and night, we are more able to live a fruitful and happy life.

Relax, trust God, and move at a slower pace, which will bring better physical and mental health. Isn't this something to consider for the New Year?

Brrr Chill ! It is a bit cold here today , but tomorrow will be even colder, so I won’t complain. We got a little snow. The ground is covered once more so things are looking brighter outside.

We had a grand feast on New Years Day and now I’ll be it’ll be leftovers the rest of the week. I always cook way too much . This will be a short work week as it is Wednesday already and that is a very good thing.

It will be a little quieter now that the holidays are over. I’ve always got lots to do though, so I won’t be bored for sure.
