I’m off to spend the day with Dad and stay overnight with him too. He needs someone to be with him 24/7 right now. My Sunday morning e-mail will be a little late as I’ll be there and not here where the computer is.

We are having beautiful sunny weather right through the weekend. That is something to be thankful for. It seems like overnight things really are looking different out, the lilacs are blooming and the leaves on the trees are getting bigger and of course the grass is growing like wildfire.

In our scripture today, Jesus was explaining his story of the seed being planted on different types of ground. Notice that he describes people as having "an honest and good heart."

That is a good standard to set for ourselves, and God promises to reward it.

HAPPY FINALLY FRIDAY

This week went by pretty quickly and for that I’m thankful. We are having lots of sunny skies, but it is still quite cool. The breezes off the lake make it seem chilly at times.

My Dad is still in the hospital and we’re patiently waiting for his release. My youngest sister has been going to see him everyday and I’ll be going tomorrow if he is still there. If he’s home I’ll be spending the day with him as usual.

Shirley continually complained that she didn’t make enough money, couldn’t afford the things she wanted, and therefore, wasn’t ever going to amount to anything.

A counselor said to her, "You’re throwing your energy away complaining instead of using it to get ahead." "But you don’t understand. The job is the problem, not me," Shirley countered.

The counselor said, "Your low-paying job may be a problem, and your boss may demand too much, but if you are continually that upset, you are causing yourself more harm than either the job or the boss."

"What can I do?" she asked.

The counselor said, "You can’t control your boss or the job, but you can control how you feel about them. Change your attitude."

Shirley took her advice. When she stopped whining about her life, people around her noticed. She got a promotion, and with her new job status, she was more marketable. Within several months, she was transferred out of the department into a position with even higher pay and a more supportive boss.

Awful is a state of attitude.

In case you missed it the Full ‘Flower’ Moon was up there shining away yesterday morning. As it’s daylight now when I leave for work, I don’t get to see the full effects quite as much, but I did look out my window when it was still dark, and it was just beautiful.

Please pray today for one of my friends little great granddaughter who will have surgery today. And also please keep my Dad in your prayers. He is still in the hospital and hopefully today we’ll know a little more about what is wrong.

Just up the road from my homeis a field with two horses in it. From a distance, each looks like every other horse. But if one stops the car, or is walking by, one will notice something quite amazing. Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind.

 His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing. Listening, one will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, one will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field. Attached to her bridle is a small bell.

It lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow her. As one stands and watches these two friends, one sees how she is always checking on him, and that he will listen for her bell and then slowly walk to where she is -- trusting that she will not lead him astray.

Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges. He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need.

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by God and those whom he places in our lives. Other times we are the guide horse, helping others see God.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, who watches over even a blind old horse, watch over us. Show us the way to You. Provide us with heavenly guides who will lead us to You through the fields of our lives. Amen.

If we add some dirt and sand to a glass of water it becomes murky, dirty and looks awful. Give it a good shake and it gets even worse. If we leave the glass for a few hours, the water finds its own balance, the sand and silt fall to the bottom and the water becomes clear again.

This is where God always wants us to be. God never intentionally shakes the glass to unsettle us. Life is so unpredictable that the water in our glass can often be cloudy and unclear.

Every day we pray to God to bring harmony and peace into our lives. If this seems an impossible task for you today, then for you to know that others are gladly doing it on your behalf.

Harmony and peace are precious commodities. They're not for sale but flow from God abundantly.

A little shepherd boy was watching his sheep one Sunday morning and he heard the bells of the church ringing. As he watched the people walk along the pasture where he was, he happened to think to himself, "I would like to communicate with God! But, what can I say to God?"

He had never learned a prayer. So, on bended knee, he began to recite the alphabet. Repeating this prayer several times, a man passing by, heard the boy's voice and peaked through the bushes. He saw the young boy kneeling with folded hands, eyes closed, repeating the alphabet.

He interrupted the boy. "What are you doing, my little one?" he asked. The boy replied, "I was praying sir." The man seemed surprised and said, "But why are you reciting the alphabet?" The boy explained, "I don't know any prayers, sir. But I want God to take care of me, and to help me care for my sheep. And so I thought, if I said all I knew, He could put the letters together into words, and He would know all that I want and should say!"

The man smiled and said, "Bless your heart, God will!" And he went on to church knowing full well that he had heard the finest sermon he could possibly hear that day.

I've started an exercise program. I do 20 sit-ups each morning. That may not sound like a lot, but you can only hit that snooze button so many times.

May the dear Lord bless you today and always ! With a large family it seems that we are always celebrating something. Yesterday was the party at DS#3’s house and today another grand’babes’ birthday !

I cannot be at all of their celebrations, but I try to make it a point to remember each one in a special way. I’ve put up some pictures in my ‘Good Morning Sunshine Journal’ for Monday morning if you want to take a look.

Luke 15:11-13

That last sentence represents every parent's worst nightmare. God placed this precious little child in your care while you were still learning to take care of yourself. You did your best to teach him what is right and wrong. You gave him the gift of love. You nurtured him as best you could. You sheltered him from danger as much as possible. You provided him with every reasonable advantage that you could afford.

You did everything, at least everything you knew to do, to prepare your child to be independent, strong, a person of character, and to live out the plan God had in mind from the miraculous conception of your son.

Is there a more helpless moment for a parent? Is there any greater pain that what a parent feels for their children when they hurt ... or worse than hurt?

Father, thank You for trusting us to love and protect these gifts from you for as long as we are granted that opportunity. When they reach the age that they get together all they have and set off for a distant country, help us to have the courage to let them go. And I thank You for the assurance that You will always go with them and will always be there for them.

I’m up early and will soon be getting ready to travel over to the celebration for Our Pumpkin’ and Our Angel today. The deviled eggs are made and the gifts are wrapped. DS#5 and his wife will graciously be taking me along with them, and I won’t have to drive all that way by myself.

The sun is supposed to shine and it will be a beautiful day! Little will be done at home, but nothing is more important as celebrating with my family. The good Lord has truly blessed me with many occasions to give thanks for all the gifts He has provided.

Quilting is sewing two layers of fabric together with filling in the middle. It originated in ancient times when people wore quilted garments for warmth and protection. Written records of bed quilts date back to the 12th century, and a quilt survives from the 1400's in England. Today is National Shrimp Scampi Day

Today is Zipper Day. Godeon Sundbach of Hoboken, New Jersey, patented the zipper fastener on this day in 1913.

The man who became one of the twentieth century’s finest composers, Edward Kennedy Ellington, was born on this day in 1899 in Washington, D.C. The Duke would create big band pieces, film scores, operas, ballets, Broadway shows, even gospel music. He would work with each section of his orchestra as an entity unto its own and then bring them together to create the unique sounds such as, Mood Indigo. Over 1,000 musical pieces are credited to the great Duke Ellington.

1879 - Electric arc lights were used for the first time -- in Cleveland, OH.

1953 - Coke Time with Eddie Fisher began its TV and radio run on NBC-TV and Mutual radio. Fisher, a popular performer, was seen and heard on more TV and radio stations in 1954 than any other entertainer

1974: Phil Donahue’s TV talk show moved from Dayton, Ohio, to Chicago, where it would win nine Emmy Awards in 11 years before moving to New York City in 1985.
