Okay, maybe this isn't REALLY what happened, but I think it's funny nevertheless:)

On the very first day, God created the cow. He said to the cow, "Today I have created you! As a cow, you must go to the field with the farmer all day long. You will work all day under the sun! I will give you a life span of 50 years.."

The cow objected, "What? This kind of tough life you want me to live for 50 years? Let me have 20 years, and the 30 years I'll give back to you." So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the dog. God said to the dog, "What you are supposed to do is to sit all day by the door of your house. Any people that come in, you will have to bark at them! I'll give a life span of 20 years." The dog objected, "What? All day long to sit by the door? No way! I give you back my other 10 years of life!"

This kind of life, I'll give you a 20 year life span." The man objected. "What? Such a good life! Eat, play, sleep, do nothing? Enjoy the best and you expect me to live only for 20 years? No way, man!....Why don't we make a deal?

Since the cow gave you back 30 years, and the dog gave you back 10 years and the monkey gave you back 10 years, I will take them from you! That makes my life span 70 years, right?" So God agreed.

AND THAT'S WHY.... In our first 20 years, we eat, sleep, play, enjoy the best and do nothing much. For the next 30 years, we work all day long, suffer and get to support the family.

For the next 10 years, we entertain our grandchildren by making monkey faces and monkey tricks.

And for the last 10 years, we stay at home, sit by the front door and bark at people!

The weekend has finally come and I’m working away to get things ready for Sunday. This will be our Family Feast day to celebrate Easter.

I should have only about 12 people altogether. DS# 1 and family, DD and her hubby, DS#5 and his wife and the Newlyweds will all be here. This is a small gathering compared to some years. We’ll be missing those that can’t make it, but I’m sure we’ll enjoy lots of good food and laughter.

I’ll try to post lots of pictures come Monday!

As usual I’m off to my Dad’s today.

Brrr Chill ! The winds brought in some cooler weather by the end of yesterday. Our warm spell was very brief and almost non-existent. It said it was 40 out, but with the wind it felt like 29 degrees.

Today we should go up to 46 and may even see some sunshine. Both of my bosses did call in yesterday, each of them asking me to do something for them. Today will be another long 10 hour one…we’ll see what they come up with today.

Candu

A turtle named Candu climbed a TALL white mountain and placed a green flag on its ground. Then Candu returned to his home, the seaside, where he invited other turtles to climb the mountain and see the wonderful view alongside the flag.

But none of the turtles wanted to go to the mountain. "Then I will bring the mountain to you," yelled Candu. One turtle said, "Ask the mountain if it knows any shortcuts back to the seaside," as the other turtles laughed.

Candu was a determined turtle and climbed back up the tall white mountain. He picked up the flag and tossed it down the mountain's side where it hit a pebble, which hit another pebble, which hit a rock, which hit other rocks, until the whole mountain came down and headed straight for the seaside.

The turtles quickly stuck their heads into their shells as the rocks harmlessly bounced off their covers. After a few frightening minutes, one by one the turtles stuck their heads out of their shells and were amazed to see a tall white mountain on the sand. And looking up, they saw Candu standing on top of the mountain with the green flag once more placed on the ground.

Candu chuckled at the turtles as he said... "Never underestimate someone's ability to obtain their Goal ."

Today would have been my Mom’s birthday and it is my oldest granddaughter’s birthday. They shared the same day, so I’ll always remember this date. The circle of life keeps going round and round.

I now have 2 long 10-hour days coming to end the work week. Both my bosses on vacation and I am left to hold the fort down, so to speak. No lunch hour and work til 5 today and Friday. It’ll be quiet in the office but I do have a couple of reports to work on so that makes it nice. There shouldn’t be any interruptions.

There’s always a bright side to everything.

A submarine is a vessel designed for underwater operations that can still sail on the water's surface. Aristotle described a submersible used in 332 B.C. by the sailors of Alexander The Great. In the story of Ruth, God providentially set the stage for Boaz to rescue Ruth and Naomi from a life of poverty and the shame of not having an heir. Ruth could have been bitter about her status as a young widow, and Boaz might have thought that as a foreigner Ruth was not worth his time.

But they recognized the hand of God in their circumstances and converged with His plan to provide for her needs. The best part is that their story doesn’t end there. Salvation for the world was yet to come through their descendants—first David and then Jesus (Matt. 1:5-16).

We can compete with God’s plan and pursue our own agenda. Or we can converge with God’s plan and join the winning side. The choice is ours.

God’s plans always lead to victory.

HAPPY TUESDAY

Yesterday we managed to warm up above freezing here and lots of our snow melted. I hope this is a sign of only more warm days to come.

DS#3 called last evening to say a belated ‘Happy Easter’ . It appears he got an extra gift for Easter this year. ‘Poison Ivy’. He said he was doing some clearing and cut down a tree that had a huge vine growing up it. He thought that it’d be ok since the leaves hadn’t come out yet….beware those vines are just as bad with or without leaves. He’d forgotten that bit of his Boy Scout training.

I had a busy day at work and it seems there will be a couple more coming my way until Thursday. Then the boss will leave on vacation. He has lots he wants done before then.

Hopefully I’ll have a peaceful Thursday and Friday.

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

And please say an extra prayer or two for those in our military that are being re-deployed to Iraq for the 2nd and 3rd times. This is so very hard on them and their families.

There once was a king who had more money than he knew what to do with. He owned all of the land as far as the eye could see, several castles, and he ruled his land with an iron fist. But no matter how much he had, he never seemed to have enough and was a very miserable man.

One day he told his servant, "I want you to go out and scour the land, from one horizon to the other, and find the happiest man on earth, and bring me his shirt. Once I have the shirt of the happiest man, I will be able to be happy myself. And I don't want you to return without that shirt or you will be beheaded."

The servant set out about his mission and was gone for many moons. The king was getting impatient as he waited and waited. Finally, after many months of searching, the servant returned, on hands and knees, crawling before the king.

The king noticed the servants hands were empty and became very angry. He told the servant that he had one minute before he was to be beheaded and he had better explain why he had disobeyed his orders.

With tears in his eyes, the servant looked to the king and said "Master, I did as you said, I searched from horizon to horizon looking for the happiest man on earth, and I finally found him."

So the kings asks, "Why didn't you bring me the shirt of this man?"

The servant replied, "Master, the happiest man on earth did not own a shirt."

HAPPY MONDAY

I had a great Easter Sunday! I was blessed with having DD and her hubby, DS#6 and #5 and their wives join me at church. I had a call from DS#1 and his family just before I left for church to let me know that yes, indeed, the Easter bunny had made it to their house. They’d just returned from church.

I did get some needed things done around the house and once again I can now see the shiny bottom of my kitchen sink. Things had been piling up there for awhile.

Good News !

We may have some warmer weather coming our way by the end of the week.

Before buttonholes, the world got dressed with pins. The Romans fastened their robes at the shoulder with a straight pin that had a coil in the middle allowing it to bend.
