HAPPY MONDAY

A lot of people have the day off due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, however, I have to go to work as usual. It will probably be a pretty quiet day. I’ll have the Saturday mail to open and distribute but no mail today!

When I left work on Friday all my work was done so that means today I’ll do some data entry and start cleaning out the 2006 files to make room for 2007.

I saw DD and DS#5 at church Sunday and they said they went to DS#6’s art show Saturday evening. DD is still studying hard and DS#5 is working on the Scholastic Art Fair for the students at the High School. DS#4 will be off on one of his many business trips tomorrow.

DS#1 and family went to see DDIL#1's mom and she is home now and recooperating very well.  Thank the dear Lord !

The weather across the country looked pretty bad over the weekend, we may see snow start to fall here later tonite and tomorrow. Remember if the roads get bad, give yourself some extra time and take it slow!

Saturday was wet and dreary and the weather folks say cooooold weather is headed our way. Lots of folks have Monday off from work or school and that may be a good thing because chances are we’ll get snow .

The week ahead has one bright light and that is Dulcimer night on Tuesday. Usually we take a break during January thru March so we don’t have to go out on the cold dark nights, but we missed our Christmas get together.

January has lots of family birthdays in it and this coming Saturday will be DS#6’s and our Princesses Birthday. It looks like they’ll be long distance celebrations as I probably won’t see either of them.

We started with the Birthdays last week with our Pretty Lady and on the 29th we’ll celebrate Our Star’s Birthday too!

I’ll be going to church this morning and then home as usual to finish up what wasn’t done yesterday. I really never get finished – just continue on.

It’s a wonderful lazy Saturday morning here. I’m enjoying my morning coffee and will be reading my morning devotionals and checking e-mail, then surfing the web for more good things for my newsletter.

I don’t purchase any newspapers or magazines anymore. I can read everything I like right on line. I used to subscribe to lots of things and now am saving a lot reading on-line.

Today is my regular ‘house blessing’ day…cleaning dusting and laundry. It’s supposed to be getting colder and a little ‘wintry mix’ (rain and sleet) may come our way, so it’ll be a good day to stay in.

Both ladies had been accomplished pianists but had given up hope of ever playing again. The director of the center suggested to the two ladies that they try playing the piano together.

HAPPY FINALLY F R I DAY

Today is supposed to be a little warmer with temps in the 40’s and rain, but the long range forecast says that it will be very cold next week. We’ll be down in the low 20’s which is typical January weather.

DDIL#1’s Mom came through her hip surgery just fine and for that we are truly thankful and Thank you for all your prayers. Now we’ll be praying for a speedy recovery for her.

I talked with DS#4 last night and he says he’ll be traveling a lot for work over the next few months so I’ll be praying for lots of safe trips for him.

A few quick ones today…

Someone in our neighborhood put a huge sofa out by the curb for trash collection. Since it was in good shape, many motorists slowed down for a look. But when they saw how enormous it was, they'd leave.

Eventually a compact car pulled up, and two men got out. "This I've got to see," I thought.

They removed the cushions, turned the sofa upside down, and shook it hard. Then they picked up all the coins that tumbled out and drove off.

Glenelg, Maryland is such a small community, I was surprised that they had a community paper. I asked one old-timer about it. He replied, "We all know what everybody else is doing, but we like to read the paper anyway to see who's been caught at it."

One Spring afternoon, I came home to find two little girls on the steps of my building. Both were crying hard, shedding big tears. Thinking they might be hurt, I dropped my briefcase and quickly went over to them. "Are you all right?" I asked. Still sobbing, one held up her doll. "My baby's arm came off," she said.

I took the doll and its disjointed arm. After a little effort and luck, the doll was again whole. "Thank you." came a whisper. Next looking into the tearful eyes of her friend, I asked, "and what's the matter with you, young lady?" She wiped her cheeks. "I was helping her cry," she said.

I sure was surprised when I woke up Wednesday morning and there was a good inch or so of snow on the ground. The roads were slippery on my way to work too ! By evening though all was clear and not much snow remained. I’m just staying in the house after work and keeping warm.

Please join me in a little prayer today for DDIL#1’s mom as she’ll be having hip replacement surgery today.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY

Is it really only Wednesday??? Long week here already. I’m ready for a weekend. Getting back in the swing of a 5 day work week isn’t easy. I think I must get to bed earlier.

It was another cold and windy day here yesterday, high temps were in the low 30’s. Just a few snow flurries with no accumulation. Today I think we are supposed to get back up in the 40’s. That’s way better than freezing !

The news on the homefront is that DS#6 has another art show that he is displaying work in this weekend. I can’t go because of my commitment to spending Saturday evening with my Dad, but I know he’s excited about it. He’s also supposed to do a bit of traveling for work this week, so I’ll be praying for some safe trips for him. Thankfully the weather isn’t an issue.

It seems that in our family there is always something going on and it’s impossible for me to join in on all the activities, but they are all always in my thoughts and prayers.

TIMING IS CRUCIAL (Think About It)

I heard or read a humorous story about a fellow who decided to run his rotary lawn mower over a frog and butcher it with the blade. To his amazement, however, after he ran the mower over the frog, there it was still in one piece. He did this several times, and always the frog would be there in one piece without a mark on him.

Finally, the fellow ran the mower over the top of the frog, and left it there with the blade whizzing around. Then, he kneeled down and peered underneath to see how it was that the mower blade never did hit him. What do you think? When he looked under his mower, there the frog was jumping that blade like a jump-rope every time it spun around with perfect timing!

Can you believe it!? No? Well, I don't either, and it doesn't sound too smart to be looking under a lawnmower with the blade whizzing away. Don't do that, but the story illustrates what I'm trying to get across--timing is sometimes crucial. Especially is this so when we are walking with God. We should neither lag behind nor run ahead, for the consequence of either could be eternally fatal.

We had some snow showers when I left for work Monday morning, but that was all. The rest of the day was very windy and cold. Over night we were supposed to get maybe an inch of snow…

I got a lot done at work because no one else was in the office til after 4 pm. Today will be more of the same…so it should be another good day!

A husband and wife didn’t really love each other. The man was very demanding, so much so that he prepared a list of rules and regulations for his wife to follow. He insisted that she read them over every day and obey them to the letter.
