HAPPY SUNDAY

Brisk north winds and a little sunshine made for a BrrCHILL Kind of day at the campground yesterday. We perservered with our winter coats on and did a nice hike around the nature trail . We put together a leaf book and identified several different types of trees which was a fun way to spend the day. The hike also got my blood circulating so I was a little warmer…we also sat around the campfire for a while had a nice dinner indoors and then We left about 6 o’clock for home. It was a fun day but chilly. I’ll post some pictures on my ‘Good Morning Sunshine ‘ journal page if you want to take a look.

HAPPY SATURDAY

Yesterday we had sun and it was very windy -- gusts up to 40 mph all day long. Today is supposed to be a little warmer (mid 50’s) with more sun and a little more wind.

Leaves were blowing all over the place, along with anything else the wind could carry. Any cobwebs that I may have had in this old brain of mine should be cleared out.

Today I’m off along with one of my dulcimer buddies and my deviled eggs to visit the campers. Only DS#1 and family will be there so we’ll be having a smaller ‘trick or treat’ celebration than usual.

It seems harder and harder to have family get togethers. Everyone is spread out all over and have many of their own things going on. I think I will have the most of them together (not all) at Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. That is something to be thankful for !

The tree in front of my house, that was golden a few days ago, is now just about bare. Yesterday was quite windy and the evening rains finished off most of the leaves.

DD and her hubby will be leaving on a trip to see DS#4 and his family so I’ll be praying for a safe trip for them. I know they will have a great time. DD also let me know she aced her second test yesterday. I think she is really enjoying going back to school.

With the cooler weather coming I’ve got to go through the closet and see if I can find my gloves. I know I had some way back in March, Now I wonder what ‘safe’ place I hid them in ..

 Back to work for me today ! I hope your Monday was a great one ! Mine sure was !!! Now I’m refreshed and ready for another work week. As far as I can see there is nothing but work on my calendar for the week until Saturday. The campers are celebrating ‘Trick or Treat’ at the campground and I’ll be joining them if weather permits.

Right now the long range forecast for Saturday is partly cloudy and in the mid 50’s. That doesn’t sound too bad.

Mr. Smith was flying from San Francisco to LA. Unexpectedly the plane stopped in Sacramento along the way. The flight attendant explained that there would be a delay, and if the passengers wanted to get off the aircraft, the plane would re-board in 30 minutes.

Everybody got off the plane except one gentleman who was blind. Mr. Smith had noticed him as he walked by and could tell the blind man had flown before because his Seeing Eye dog lay quietly underneath the seats in front of him throughout the entire flight.

The pilot approached the blind man, and calling him by name, said "Keith, we're in Sacramento for almost an hour. Would you like to get off and stretch your legs?"

Keith replied, "No thanks, but maybe the dog would like to stretch his legs".

Now, picture this: All the people in the gate area came to a complete quiet standstill when they look up and see the pilot walk off the plane with the Seeing Eye dog!

The pilot was even wearing sunglasses. People scattered. They not only tried to change planes, but they were trying to change airlines!

Certain historians tell us that Columbus was deeply religious and believed that one of his missions was to bring Christianity to the New World. Columbus had a dream and overcame many obstacles in order to accomplish it. But he did not give up! Christianity did indeed reach the New World. Columbus was part of God's plan.

We can be ambassadors for Christ, wherever we are. Others are aware of what we do and say, so it is very important that we exhibit the love of Christ in all our actions. When we do that, God strengthens and guides us to a peaceful and successful life.

We may encounter obstacles, but each time we overcome an obstacle, we are stronger and more able to live an abundant life.

Today I’m enjoying what is know as a ‘vacation day’. I haven’t yet decided what I’m getting into, but I’m sure it’ll be good !

Many people know how Helen Keller overcame the difficult challenge of being rendered deaf, dumb, and blind after a fever as an infant, and how she eventually learned to communicate, learning Braille. Her life inspired millions, one of her admirers being Mark Twain. She was invited to visit every U.S. President at the White House from her childhood on.

What many people don't know, however, is how hard Helen worked as an adult. After graduating with honors from Radcliffe College, she worked to help others until her death at the age of eighty-eight.

She wrote numerous articles. She gave lectures for the American Foundation for the Blind, and she helped raise a find of some two million dollars for this foundation.

On her eightieth birthday, she was honored by the organization's announcing the Helen Keller International Award for those who gave outstanding help to the blind.

Not only are each of us called to overcome our own faults, weaknesses, and limitations, but we are asked to exercise our strengths. "Just surviving" isn't what we are challenged to do.

We are destined to use our talents for God's purposes, putting all our minds, hearts, and energy to the work He sets before us.
