 TODAY IS...MUSHROOM DAY  

Mushrooms are a fungi (ick) that are related to molds and yeasts. There are tens of thousands of different species, but only a few hundred we can eat. All the rest are toxic. Not all mushrooms grow in dark, damp places -some need sunlight - and some even glow in the dark! Be careful what you pick to throw in the stew pot - or just get them at the grocery store like I do.  

BAKED MUSHROOMS  

 1 pound fresh mushrooms, quartered
1 onion, diced
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 green bell pepper, diced
1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp. seasoning salt
1 dash pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons water
4 tablespoons melted butter   1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

2. In a 1 quart casserole dish combine mushrooms, onion, garlic, green pepper, Italian seasoning, seasoning salt, pepper and parsley. Pour water and butter over mixture and cover.

3. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes

I read recently about a father who passed by his son's bedroom and was astonished to see the bed was nicely made and everything was picked up. Then he saw an envelope propped up prominently on the center of the bed. It was addressed, "Dad". With the worst premonition, he opened the envelope and read the letter.

Dear Dad,

It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with mom and you. I've been finding real passion with Joan and she is so nice -- even with all her piercing and her tattoos. But it's not only the passion dad, she's pregnant and Joan said that we will be very happy. I know you don’t care for her as she is so much older than I. But, she already owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. She wants to have many more children with me and that's now one of my dreams too. Today I'm thankful for the 'cool' weather.  I can't believe I'm saying it, but I'm tired of being hot and having the air conditioning running.  It's not fun anymore.  Mind you, I don't want winter to come either...   It has definitely been getting darker earlier here.  By 8:00 I want to go to bed, it's dark out then.  In the mid summer evenings, at 8:00 I was just getting a good  start on things around here...not anymore.  Oh my, it's only going to get worse as the days shorten.  It' won't be long and my body will think 7:00 is bed time.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY OVER THE HUMP DAY!  

My monthly dulcimer night was switched to the 26th, so I stayed home last night. The evenings this week are all pretty quiet ones which is a good thing as I don't feel like doing much once I get home from work.  It's supposed to rain and cool down some - the weekend looks like mid 70's and sunny.

  Donuts were invented in 16th century Holland. They were called "oil cakes" and had no holes. Brought to America by the Pilgrams, they were renamed "dough nuts" because they were about the size of walnuts. The weekend flew by as always.  Except for my dulicmer get together on Tuesday evening this should be a pretty quiet week.   Come the weekend things will change as my company comes in .  Take good care all !

Okay, In a blender, add:
1 cup ice cold milk
4 scoops vanilla ice cream
4 tbsp. chocolate syrup
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
Blend, pour into a glass and drink.

Then walk for 2 hours to keep the 490 calories from ending up on your hips

What a courageous statement! And Paul was honest, for he had survived being beaten, shipwrecked, stoned, and other perils.And each time, Paul did get up again and go on with his mission for the Lord.

Although knocked down, with God's help, you'll be able to get up again.
