 Happy Labor Day   I'm glad and thankful for a job to go to.  When I think about all the people with out one and  I'm sorry for all the times I hated to have to go to work.  Why does it take something terrible happening to remind us of how blessed we are???  The good Lord sure does shake us up every now and then.  

 Today I'm working on the gifts that will need to be done for the coming birthdays in my family. DD and her hubby will probably be by later for a visit . I had a great day yesterday with the campers and will post pictures on my journal page-GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE.

ON THE NINTH DAY...  

 On the 6th day, God created men & women.

On the 7th day, he rested.

Not so much to recuperate, but rather to prepare himself for the work he was going to do the next day. For it was on the 8th day that God created the teacher.

This teacher though, taken from among men and women had several significant modifications. In general, God made the teacher more durable than other men and women.

The teacher was made to arise at a very early hour and to go to bed no earlier than 11:30 PM. With no rest in between. The teacher had to be able to withstand being locked up in an air-tight room with 35 little monsters on a rainy Monday. And the teacher had to be fit to correct 103 term papers over Easter vacation.

Yes, God made the teacher tough - but gentle too. The teacher was equipped with soft hands to wipe away the tears of the neglected and lonely student... of the 16 year old girl who was not asked to the prom.

And into the teacher God poured a generous amount of patience. Patience when a student asks to repeat the directions the teacher hasjust repeated for someone else.

Patience when the kids forget their lunch money for the 4th day in a row. Patience when 1/3 of the class fails the test. Patience when the text books haven't arrived yet, and the semester starts tomorrow.

And God gave the teacher a heart slightly bigger than the average human heart. For the teacher's heart had to be big enough to love the kid who screams, "I hate this class-it's boring!" and to love the kid who runs out of the class at the end of the period without so much as a good bye or a thank you.

And lastly, God gave the teacher an abundant supply of hope. For God knew that the teacher would always be hoping. Hoping that the students would one day learn to spell... Hoping not to have lunchroom duty...hoping that Friday would come... hoping for a free day... hoping for deliverance.

When God finished creating the teacher, he stepped back and admired the work of his hands. And God saw that the teacher was good. Very Good. And God smiled, for when he looked at the teacher, he saw into the future. He knew that the future is in the hands of the teachers.

And because God loves teachers so much, on the 9th day God created . . . .

  HAPPY SATURDAY!    

Today is 'House Blessing' day and I've got potato salad and deviled eggs to make for the campers tomorrow.  I thought I'd never get home from work last night!  I got off work at 4 and was going to get some groceries after work.  Well, the car wouldn't start !  I had to call AAA and have the car towed to the dealership where they  probably won't have it fixed until Tuesday as it's a holiday weekend.  They gave me a 'loaner' car so at least I can get around this weekend and back to work on Tuesday.   Just one of those little annoying things...nothing big like 'Katrina'   I heard from DS#2 yesterday and he had a truck load of supplies and was going home.  His neighbor let him know that at worst it looks like some shingles are off the roof!  We'll keep praying.

As the coals from our barbecue burned down, my husband passed out marshmallows and long roasting forks to our dinner guests.

  HAPPY 'FINALLY ' FRIDAY  

The news on the 'Mudd Babes' isn't so great .  Now they have been informed they will be restricted to base when they get back (for their own safety) and the kids will go off to stay with their Grandparents in California. Luting is supposed to be very bad down there and they don't know yet if their home has been luted or what.  Please keep them in your prayers. 

   Long, long week and I'm glad it's done.  We have a long weekend to look forward to and Sunday I'll be going to visit the 'Camping babes'.  Part of my family is camping up by the lake this weekend and the weather is supposed to be almost perfect.  My old 'camping buddy' is going along with me, so it should be fun.  

Here's a new abbreviation for you :  S.O.A.P.  it stands for Sending On A Prayer.  Each time you wash your hands - send on a prayer for a mother or a grandmother.  Easy way to remember to pray for all those MOMs that need a prayer - we all do!

The first beer cans were the "Flat Top" by the G. Krueger Brewing Company in 1935. You needed the old "church key" to get them open. These flat top cans were produced until 1970. In 1963, the "Pop Top" was introduced by the Schlitz Brewing Company - good for making endless chains. In 1975, the "Sta Tab" replaced the pop tops. This was good for the landfills and small animals who were eating the rings, but not as much fun

THANKFUL today that the hurricane has finally blown it's way out ....lots of flooding and damage on it's path now we pray for the 'great clean up'.   

I had great news from DS#2 and family yesterday evening.  They have heard that their house is ok - with some property damage. Their sub division has survived the storm and was not flooded. They are going home and try to get back to some kind of 'normal' living.  It's going to be a tough go for them for awhile, but they are safe and so is there home. 

Thank You Lord !!!

She's famous for being the first female telephone operator. Initially, the phone company hired young boys - with disasterous results. They fought with each other, were unruly and rude to customers. The good folk at Merriam-Webster Dictionary have compiled a list of "Favorite Top Ten" words that are not in the dictionary, following a very unofficial and unscientific survey of its web site visitors. Here's the list:

"Snirt." Dirty snow, usually seen at the edge of the road or parking lots.

"Slickery." A wet, icy surface that is slick and slippery.

"Phonecrastinate." Putting off answering the phone until the Caller ID information comes up.

At least 25,000 of Hurricane Katrina's refugees are traveling in a bus convoy to Houston and will be sheltered at the Astrodome. It's been years since teams have played there, but unlike much of the grass in Texas this time of year, the Astroturf is still green  

The EPA is lifting clean air restrictions for two weeks so refineries can produce more gasoline quicker. It'll be dirty gasoline, but at $3.00 a gallon, motorists are already gasping for breath at the price anyway  

 Isn't it strange? Even when your city is underwater, and everything is lost, there's always plenty of plastic bags to stash your loot in...  

All kidding aside , please continue to pray for all those trying to pick up the pieces and go on with life after the hurricane.

But like Moses’ mother, we have to have faith that God will be going along with them, wherever they go.  Instead of spending anxious hours worrying, we can let go and let God be in charge.
