HAPPY SUPER SATURDAY !

I’m off to the Ohio Renaissance Festival this morning. I should be leaving the house about 6:30 a.m. as it’s about a 3 hour drive from here. One of my ‘dulcimer’ buddies is driving down with me. It will be her first time going. It’s always a lot of fun, as they all dress and act the part of the people of the times.

Today’s theme is Nordic Adventures:

Visitors from the Northland bring Viking revelry to the village. Put on your horns, braids, and beards for a full day of Nordic adventure

I haven’t got any of the above , but I do have my costume. Pictures will be posted tomorrow.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS...CHEWING GUM DAY

Chew an entire pack of gum today to celebrate the birthday of William Wrigley, Jr., the man who brought us pure chewing satisfaction.

Modern chewing gum was invented when "chicle" was brought to the U.S. (Chicle is latex sap - much like rubber). In 1870, the first flavored gum, Black Jack, was manufactured. Wrigley was selling Spearmint and Juicy Fruit by 1893. Chiclets and gumballs came in the early 1900s - and Walter Diemer invented Dubble Bubble bubble gum in 1928. The best news is that after WWII, chemists learned how to make artificial gum bases to use instead of chicle

Not quite grasping the sanctity of "Monday Night Football," I plunked myself next to my new husband one Monday night to chat. He was distracted by the action on TV, and after being shushed a few times, I gave him a "look." Immediately contrite, he picked up the remote. "I'm sorry, honey," he apologized, I'm being rude. LAST ONE FOR TODAY !

A recent college graduate took a new job in a hilly Eastern city and began commuting each day to work through a tiring array of tunnels, bridges and traffic jams. To make the task less onerous, he invited several of his coworkers to share the ride. He soon found, however, that the commute continued to get more stressful, especially the trips through the tunnels. He consulted the company doctor. "Doc," the frustrated commuter complained, "I'm fine on the bridges, in the traffic, in the day and at night, and even when Joe forgets to bathe all week long. But when I get in the tunnels and I've got those four other guys crowded around me in the car, I get anxious and dizzy and feel like I'm going to explode. What's wrong with me?" Immediately the doctor announced he had identified the ailment.

You have what is known as Carpool Tunnel Syndrome

TODAY'S REFLECTION

Hebrews 4:12

If one were forced to defend oneself, a double- edged sword would be a useful weapon. And Paul tells us that God's word is even sharper. It cuts through to the absolute truth and that affects those who study it God's word can meet you wherever you are, what ever your problems. Study it, and you will find answers to every challenge

Today I’m thankful for knit pants that stretch. My pants are getting tight and you know what that means… This is another busy day at work. One day a woman came home and realized she was in the process of being robbed. She saw the thief running toward the back door with his loot. She wanted to say something to him before he left. So as he headed out the door she yelled out, "Acts 2:38!" At least she would be able to give the thief a Bible verse to ponder over.

Well the man stopped dead in his tracts, put down his loot and stood still with his hands up. The woman called the police and told them everything that happened. One of the police officers asked the robber, "You know, it's not that we mind at all that you stopped, that makes things easier for us, but why in the world did you stay?" The thief replied, "It's because of what she yelled at me as I was leaving."

TODAY IS...ACORN SQUASH DAY

Now, who thought of the name "squash"? It sounds like what happens when you step on a bug. But, even with that name, acorn squash is a delicious, sweet vegetable. It's also called winter squash - not because it grows in the winter, but because it lasts all winter if it's stored in a cool, dry place. This is because the skin is so much thicker than a summer squash like zucchini

STUFFED ACORN SQUASH

2 acorn squash (1 to 1 1/2 lbs each)

1 large, tart red apple, diced

2 tablespoons chopped nuts

 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar

1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted

 1. Heat over to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

2. Cut each squash in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds and fibers. Place the squash with the cut side up in an ungreased pan. Bake for 30 minutes.

 3. In a small mixing bowl, combine the apple, nuts, brown sugar and melted butter. Spoon this mixture into the squash halves.

 4. Return the squash to the over and continue baking for 30 minutes longer - or until the squash is tender. ENJOY

My niece bought her five-year old daughter, Rebekah, a hamster. One day he escaped from his cage. The family turned the house upside-down and finally found him. Several weeks later, while she was at school, he disappeared again. My niece searched frantically, but sadly, never found the little critter. Hoping to make the loss less painful for Rebekah, my niece took the cage out of her room. When Rebekah came home from school that afternoon, she climbed into her mother's lap. TODAY IS...PIANO DAY

The piano was invented by Bartolomeo Cristofori in Florence, Italy sometime around 1700 - and was originally called a "harpsichord that plays soft and loud." It was a keyboard instrument that produced a stronger sound than the clavichord and allowed for more artistic expression than the harpsichord or the organ. Today we celebrate the most popular instrument in the whole world - plus more than 20 million people who are pianists. This includes all of us who can only play chopsticks

Proverbs 18:12

Jesus gave good advice on the difference between being prideful and being humble. He said that when you go to a feast, don’t sit in the best place, or you might be asked to move for someone more important. Humility is not something we choose. It is simply recognizing that God created us and gave us the abilities we have

September 22 - Autumnal Equinox. Fall begins at 6:23 P.M. EDT. The autumnal equinox is defined as the point at which the Sun appears to cross the celestial equator from north to south. The celestial equator is the circle in the celestial sphere halfway between the celestial poles. It can be thought of as the plane of Earth's equator projected out onto the sphere. Another definition of fall is nights of below-freezing temperatures combined with days of temperatures below 70 degrees Fahrenheit. The word equinox means "equal night"; night and day are the same length of time. The spring equinox is in late March. In addition to the equal hours of daylight and darkness, the equinoxes are times when the Sun's apparent motion undergoes the most rapid change. Around the time of the equinoxes, variations in the position on the horizon where the Sun rises and sets can be noticed from one day to the next by alert observers
